HOW TO PLAY GRIDMANIAC
COMBAT OBJECTIVE & BLIND SIMULTANEOUS TURNS
GRIDMANIAC is a turn-based, simultaneous blind-positioning tactical arena game. All combatants plan their tile movement and weapon deployment in complete secrecy.
1. SECRET POSITIONING
Click any active arena tile within 15 seconds. Your coordinates stay 100% hidden from opponents until the simultaneous reveal.
2. SIMULTANEOUS REVEAL
Once all combatants lock in, soldiers drop or dash to their positions at the exact same instant, executing their attacks together!
TACTICAL WEAPONS ARSENAL & MINE LIFESPAN
Each turn, select one weapon to discharge alongside your movement:
LASER BEAM
KEY 1Fires a continuous, high-energy ray piercing an entire row or column across the arena. Press R or click the orientation button to toggle between Row and Column.
NEON GRENADE
KEY 2Hurls a heavy explosive detonating in an orthogonal cross pattern (+) of 5 tiles (target center tile plus 1 tile North, South, East, and West).
HIDDEN MINES UPDATED RULE
KEY 3Deploy 4 stealth mines onto any empty arena tiles. Once deployed, mines follow these critical rules:
- 2 Consecutive Moves Lifespan: Placed mines remain armed on the arena for exactly 2 consecutive moves once deployed. If untriggered after 2 consecutive moves, they naturally deactivate and expire!
- Friendly Immunity: You are 100% immune to your own placed mines.
- Immediate Detonation: If an opponent steps onto your mine's tile during resolution, it triggers an instant lethal explosion!
ELIMINATION & MINE VAPORIZATION
LETHAL COMBAT
Any soldier caught in a laser beam, grenade cross, or enemy mine is eliminated immediately. One hit means game over!
MINE VAPORIZATION
If a player is eliminated, all of their placed mines instantly disappear from the board! Fallen combatants leave no lingering hazards.
COSMIC ARENA COLLAPSE
If a round concludes with no casualties, the outermost ring of the 15×15 grid destabilizes and crumbles into the deep space void! Any soldier standing on the falling perimeter leaps inward to safety. The safe zone shrinks continuously until the final survivor claims victory.
MODES & CONTROLS REFERENCE
GAME MODES (ONLINE)
• SOLO VS WARDEN: instant battle against the adaptive machine AI.
• RANDOM 1V1: global matchmaking. If nobody is found within 12 seconds, WARDEN takes the
slot.
• PRIVATE ROOM: create a 6-character code + invite link for 2–4 players
(free-for-all). The host can start once 2 have joined.
• JOIN ROOM: type a friend's code, or just open their invite link.
• Fair play: the server is the referee. Your opponent's tile and weapon are never sent to
your browser until the simultaneous reveal. If a player drops, they have 15 seconds to reconnect
before the match is forfeited.

• Left-Click: Select tile / aim weapon
• Right-Drag: Orbit 3D tactical camera
• Mouse Wheel: Zoom camera in/out
• Keys 1 / 2 / 3: Select Laser / Grenade / Mines
• Key R: Rotate laser axis (Row ↔ Col)
• Enter: Lock in secret turn
